![]() A1: The problem is caused by conflict between installed USB 2.0 driver and one or more other device drivers installed on your system. What you need to do is first, uninstall USB 2.0 driver and then, try to find other device’s driver for any possible updates. So follow the instruction below: 1) Start your computer either by: a. If your Macintosh has another operating system installed, boot the computer into that operating system by holding the “Option” key immediately after pressing the “Power Button” on your computer. Your computer should give you a choice which operating system you want it to boot into. You should be able to modify the content of the hard drive, which contains the USB 2.0 driver. Remove the USB 2.0 driver files. b. A3: Mac OS 8.6/9.x does not support USB 2.0 speed.
Q4: Why won’t my Macintosh Beige G3 work when I installed a PCI USB 2.0 controller card?
A4: Depending on the ROM Revision of your Beige G3, the computer may not work when a PCI USB 2.0 controller card is installed. For the Beige G3 to work with USB 2.0 controller card, it needs to be either ROM Revision B ($77D.45F1) or Revision C ($77D.45F2). To check which ROM Revision your Beige G3 is, open “Apple System Profiler” in Mac OS 8.6/9.x. On the “System Profile” tab, under “Product information”, contains information regarding “ROM Revision”. |
